What do Junior Counselors Do?*
Specific duties will vary, depending on experience, age, and the needs of the barn during their shifts.

Examples: Barn chores: Clean stalls/barn area, cleaning & filling water buckets; loading& distributing hay; grooming/tacking horses for lessons; leading horses/help teach (lessons), picking up/cleaning surrounding areas; and cleaning tack, helping to maintain pasture, feeding, bathing & caring for horses.

Examples of schedule: Saturday mornings (3-4 hrs.) or AM/PM (2-4 hr.) Students further along in program: Help during the weekday (AM/PM)

Junior Counselor Policy Agreements
Volunteer Commitment*
Students will need to plan to volunteer on a regular basis. Students must begin as volunteers (up to 6 months), and then if our instructor(s) feels that the student is ready, they will be selected for the program.
- After Student is qualified & selected JC must continue lessons & volunteering in order to stay in the program.
- Parents/guardian of student is welcome to volunteer too, if interested let us know.
- I read and understand the volunteer commitment.
Junior Counselor Requirements*
Students must be at least 10 years of age (Require up to 3 lessons/month) Space is very limited in this program, so interested students must be prepared to work hard, put their best effort forward, and perform above average

JC must be capable to tack up & groom their horse.

If a student has difficulty following instructions and being safe, we have the right to postpone the program for this individual.

Students are expected to work at least 12-14 hours per month. Students must be responsible, reliable, hardworking and independent workers.

Students are expected to show up when scheduled. Frequently missed scheduled volunteer hours may result in not staying in the program. In case of sickness, please notify M&M Ranch by email as soon as possible.

Horses and people are depending on you. The barn manager should be notified at least 48 hours in advance by email if JC student is not able to attend scheduled work hours.

JC will be required to help with Intro Lessons in June.

JC will need to attend the working JC training program & have current JC Application on file.

After Student is qualified & selected for the JC Program if JC wants to volunteer more than expected hours for additional practice ride or lesson at a discount ask us about it.

Summer Program-JC Schedule*
JC will be expected to volunteer the entire dates scheduled and help with Summer Program (typically in June). Those more advanced may have the opportunity to help exercise the horses if needed and or help with July Clinics.

Discontinue JC Program Policy*
To change lesson plan, or need to take a break, WE REQUIRE a 60 DAY WRITTEN NOTICE DATED BEFORE THE FIRST OF THE MONTH. The notice will need to be emailed to M&M Ranch 60 days prior to last month of lessons; lessons paid on the 1st can be ridden out that month.

Returning to JC Program Policy*
**Spots are limited, so when you come back for lessons you may be put on the waiting list. If you are unable to keep the JC monthly requirement the next time your daughter enrolls, she will start over to be qualified for the program. She will be required to take 3/lesson/month before she will be back enrolled in JC program
