Wrangler Assistant: Intermediate-Advance skill level required.

Ranch Assistant: No horseback riding experience is necessary but must be comfortable being around horses & outdoors.

Wrangler Ranch Assistant

• Competent rider, capable of teaching kids Beginner to Advance, lots of experience with horse, excellent physical condition, ability to perform barn chores.
• Keeping all equipment, the stables, arena, horse pens, and help keep supplies organized and in good repair, help keep bunkhouse clean.
• Riding/training horses as needed. (must qualify)

Lessons/Care Horses: grooming/tacking horses for lessons; leading horses/help teach with lessons, feeding, bathing & caring for horses.

Barn chores: clean stalls/barn area, water buckets; loading & distributing hay; clean/repair tack, etc.

Applying for Teen Leadership Wrangler Assistant Position:

• Lesson Required: Applicant required to take an intro lesson as part of the interview process. (A discount will be offered for first lesson)
• Applicant need send video of riding- ask us for list of what we need for video.
• Fill out the full online application.
• Required to have First Aid and CPR Certification prior starting in the position.

Applicants will need to fill out an application & plan to come to M&M Ranch for a personal interview/trial before summer program starts.  

If more training is needed, we will let you know after trial period. All Trainings are done on your own time.

Requirements Wrangler Assistant Position?

• Applicants must care & love working with the kids.
• Intern must be responsible, respectful, trustworthy, willing to work hard and physically capable of performing barn chores. If a student has difficulty following instructions and being safe, we have the right to postpone the program for this individual.
• Must be capable of physically tack and bridle several horses & help with barn chores. (Training will be provided)
• Must be committed to the training days we offer.
• Space is very limited in this program, so interested students must be prepared to work hard, put their best effort forward, and perform above average.
• Wrangler Interns are expected to be competent riders, must be physically fit, comfortable riding at all gates and to have some experience caring for horses.

Summer Schedule Requirements

• Some training before summer starts will be required. (April-June) if applicant lives out of area let ranch director know so we can schedule.
• Dates required: Days: June 2 weeks (3 days per week) & Overnights: July 9-13
  • June Program - see website for posted dates.
• After applicant approved - more details schedule will be provided.

Additional dates in summer may be asked for observing or training/other programs Help with throughout summer with lessons (June-August)

Will I be able to ride?

Intermediate-Advance Level: Yes! There are times we may ask you to ride or help exercise a horse that will depend on your skills/level, & maturity. So that we may evaluate your riding ability, we require recent video of you riding and 1 lesson prior to start of program. 

Beginner Level: You are welcome to pay for additional lessons during your stay here; we will give you the Intern discount rate.  You also have the option do our Intern Riding Program- volunteer number of hours to earn discount credit toward riding or lessons.
